Producing over 7,000 holiday homes every year, Willerby is one of the leading names in the UK industry. With a focus on attention to detail, Willerby’s team are made of skilled and dedicated personnel who are passionate about building living spaces for customers to thrive and enjoy their holiday within. With an 80-acre site in Hull, the company has an impressive team of over 1,000 staff.
Willerby was established by Walter Allen who, after a career making beehives, spotted a gap in the market in the leisure and tourism industry after the war. He opened a factory in a village outside of Hull, Willerby (hence the name), working with an entrepreneur called John Richardson. Although the company had humble beginnings, they understood the importance of investing in their team and facilities in order to create the best possible static caravans. The site may have grown, along with their staff, but their roots have remained the same, with all company expansion remaining within Hull.
Quality has always been at the forefront of Willerby’s goal. Their first model, a touring caravan named the York, was only 11ft long. Other classic models followed, including the Vogue, of which a 1956 version can be viewed at Willerby’s show room site in Hull.
One of the key reasons why Willerby has remained a market leader after all these years is due to their commitment to sustainability. Willerby owe a lot of their sustainable success to their ‘GreEN Standard’, the requirements of which must be met by all Willerby static caravans and holiday homes to reduce risk and harm to the environment. This also means their holiday homes are more cost efficient for owners, providing a win: win situation.
Willerby have made their holiday homes more efficient through the addition of low-emission argon gas to all windows and exterior doors. Additionally, they’ve increased the thickness of the exterior walls by 100% and upgraded insulation all over the construction, including walls, roof, and floors. What this means for owners is their holiday home will use 1/5 less energy and emits 250kg less greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Owners will benefit from a more robust static caravan or lodge, and the temperatures will be neutralised inside, becoming warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
Willerby’s range comes in many different styles and sizes to suit all types of owners. From the interiors, your static caravan can be made to look rustic, contemporary, and most importantly, on trend. That traditional feel of a holiday home is still there, but in a more modern setting.
When settling into your new holiday home, you’ll find home comforts have been included as a standard, such as double glazing and USB charging points. If you want to fully equip your holiday home, Willerby offer some welcome, modern extras, including an integrated Bluetooth MP3 sound system, fully galvanised chassis, and a Hive thermostat to keep control over your energy.
To keep holiday homes safe and secure all year around, Willerby have also added trace heating, so that the threat of frozen pipes during a winter break is minimalised, and smoke/carbon monoxide alarms. If you encounter any issues with your brand new Willerby holiday home, you’ll be safe in the knowledge that is comes with a comprehensive 12-month warranty.
In 2018, the company launched Willerby Bespoke, it’s first entry into the residential and luxury leisure market. These holiday lodges are all expertly designed to meet the needs of the buyers tastes and requirements, completed with Willerby’s signature furnishings and décor.
