For nearly 60 years, Swift have devoted themselves to producing ‘innovative products that are well designed, constructed to the highest standards and provide outstanding value for money’. Swift have a wide range of high-quality holiday homes for sale that appeal to all holiday makers. This variety, as well as their dedication to their craft, has seen them become the UK’s largest manufacturer of motorhomes, touring caravans, and static holiday homes.
Founded in 1964, Swift started with a single brand of caravans, centred around the distinctive tri-front window that remains prevalent in current models to this day. As the brand began to grow, so did the line of products available. Swift started to become more upmarket during the mid-1970s with the launch of one of their most iconic and long-lasting models: the Corniche.
As we entered the 1990’s, customers noticed how capable Swift’s caravans were with some outstanding records being set. In 1992, a team of three drivers (including Chairman Peter Smith) set about driving a Vauxhall Carlton around Millbrook Test Track with a Swift caravan in tow. The team averaged speeds of over 100mph and covered 2,329 miles in the space of 24 hours.
Another member of Swift’s board towed a Corniche from Land’s End to John O’Groats. He completed the 870-mile journey in just 14 hours and 34 minutes, setting a new record, and successfully establishing Swift’s products as extremely durable and efficient.
Swift are known for their record-breaking efforts, with innovation being at the forefront of their design an engineering processes. Forty years ago, Swift pioneered the scientific testing of caravans carried out in the UK, becoming the first manufacturer to include wind tunnel testing, extended road tests and computer modelling when developing one of their earliest ranges.
Additionally, Swift became the first manufacturer in the leisure and tourism industry to launch ‘dealer special editions’ of their caravans in 1995. This change enabled their customers to choose their own furnishings, exterior graphics and general specifications which weren’t readily available in the caravans for sale at the time. This meant customers could finally customise their holiday homes, which is a USP which continues today.
Even after all these years, Swift continue to focus on giving their customers innovative, durable and efficient holiday homes. With their Smart Construction, all holiday homes are manufactured with PURe timberless framing and Glass Reinforced Polymer (GRP) outer shells, making them extremely weather resistant. Swift remains the only manufacturer in the country with access to an in-house GRP facility.
In addition to their static caravans, Swift’s range of touring caravans are also extremely efficient. With their low-energy LED lights and aerodynamic exteriors, users will save time, power, and money by conserving more energy. Even with all this focus on durability, the comfort of the customer is still a top priority. This is why all Swift products come with Duvalay Duvalite Apollo Luxe Mattresses as standard. All Swift vehicles and the features that come with them are protected with a 10-year warranty, to ensure that Swift’s quality goes beyond their products.
