As one of the UK’s most popular holiday destinations, it’s no surprise there is tons to do with your family in Wales! Whether you need some last-minute inspiration, or are just curious, we’ve rounded up some of the best family activities to do in Wales:
Zip world
If your family love adrenaline-fuelled activities, then Zip World is a must have visit! Home to some of the craziest activities in Wales, you can find the largest zip zone in Europe. With group experiences available, you and your family can race over the breath-taking Welsh landscape at speeds up to 70mph.
It doesn’t end there, anyone aged seven and up can then head to a former underground slate mine, now known as Bounce Below. Featuring nets that stretch across the caverns, you can jump, roll, and play in this extraordinary playground. If you’re wanting even more, there are even some industrial style slides to slide down, only if you’re brave enough!
A family try to Zip World is an exciting day out that won’t be forgotten. Only a 30-minute drive away from our Harlech Holiday Home Parks, you can have easy access to a fun day out.
GreenWood Forest Park
Voted the best family attraction in North Wales for the past six years, GreenWood Forest Park has a variety of unique rides for your family to explore. You’ll be able to ride the UK’s only solar-powered water ride, and the world’s first people powered roller coaster featuring a 360-degree horizontal loop!
You can also find Wales’ longest sledge run, along with a Barefoot Trail, the perfect place to run around and explore (all without your socks and shoes!). There is also an abundance of indoor activities, from indoor soft play to pirate shows and entertainers during the school holidays.
After a day full of fun, you can head to the GreenOak café to order a hot or cold meal, made with a selection of local produce. If you’re seeking an interactive, magical day out, then GreenWood Forest Park is the place to go.
Snowdon Mountain Railway
Travel on a journey of a lifetime on the Snowdon Mountain Railway. At 1,085m high, Snowdon is the main feature of the Snowdonia National Park, featuring incredible views of plunging valleys and gorgeous waterfalls. On the clearest days, you may even be able to see Ireland from the Snowdon summit visitor centre.
With two services available, and under two-year-olds going for free, Snowdon Mountain Railway is truly one of the most unique and wonderful railway journeys in the world.
Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre
If water sports float your boat, then head to Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre for an action-packed family day out. Located on the beautiful North Wales coast, kids aged eight and above can have a go at sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and more!
Whether you’re looking to spend a few hours or a whole day, there is something for everyone. There is also an onsite café to grab a drink or something to eat (or a perfect place for those wanting to spectate!).
Llechwedd Slate Caverns
Explore a bit of history in the Llechwedd Slate Caverns. An underground experience, you’ll be taken on a guided tour to discover what life was like within the slate mines 160 years ago. Featuring light projections and enhanced technology, the caverns will come to life as you head down 150 metres on the steepest cable railway in the UK.
If going underground isn’t for you, there is also an opportunity to have an above ground tour to visit other mines and take in the incredible scenery. There is also an on-site café for refreshments at the end of your family day out.
Harlech Castle
Located in the seaside town of Harlech on the northwest coast, explore the medieval Harlech Castle as it stands proudly above the beach below. Walk along the ‘floating’ footbridge before you enter the majestic castle walls and learn all about the castle’s history from 600 years ago. With a visitor centre, a gift shop and Harlech town a short walk away, there’s plenty to do at Harlech castle with your family!
