Tense Finale to Annual Fishing Match

Tense afternoon at the Annual Morben Isaf Fishing Match. 12 contestants joined in for either part or the whole 5 hours! The afternoon looked set for an enjoyable time in the sunshine with young and old drawing peg numbers out of the hat.  Conditions soon changed and became difficult with a strong breeze and the action was slow. Steve set the target early on with a 2.7lb Carp. A couple of quiet hours followed with broken rigs and lost fish causing (Alan, Bill & Hannah) much frustration! During all this, Jessica and Bethany combined to land the continuous steady flow of Silver Fish on maggots, finally declaring with a massive total of 40 fish!  Mike caught a 5.2lb Carp thinking the title was won but Steve retook the lead within minutes with a 5.7lb Carp. Everyone thought this was the start of the action….. but ……. no! The rain came, the temperature dropped but did people give up, no chance! With 10 mins to go Mike fought to land the biggest catch of the day 6.4lb Carp. Well done to everyone who took part, great to hear the squeals of delight from the youngsters catching their first fish; making memories forever.
